On one hand, the last good days of winter stick around long enough to enjoy some late season ski events, and on the other, the fresh wind of spring is blowing across the country opening up warm weather options. And smack dab in the middle, as if to celebrate the whole thing, Earth Day always brings a weekend full of adventure. And to figure out which of those adventures you want to take this month, here for you today are 10 amazing outdoor events happening in the month of April:

World Ski and Snowboard Festival, Whistler, BC, April 10-19
Celebrate the end of winter in style with the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC. Full of music, art, and of course skiing and snowboarding, this is one event that properly celebrates the final days of winter season sports. Wild Sebastian 100, Sebastian, Florida, April 11-12
Sure, the trails that make up the Saint Sebastian River Preserve and corresponding Wild Sebastion 100 ultra-marathon might be flat, but no matter the condition, running 100 miles is no easy feat. That’s why the Wild Sebastian 100 has a time limit of 32 hours, and if you’re feeling a little less than up to the full distance, the looped race course also caters towards 25, 50, & 75 mile races. Spring Back to Vail, Vail, Colorado, April 17-19
Quite possibly the biggest end-of-season bash in the Rocky Mountains, the Spring Back to Vail celebration tops the charts with live music, pond skimming, and of course the costumes that come alongside it. This year headlining the festival is Portugal, The Man and Trampled by Turtles, and back by popular demand, the annual World Pond Skimming Championships will also be held at the base of the mountain for you to enjoy and/or participate (while wearing a costume of your choosing).

Earth Day on the National Mall, Washington D.C., April 18
Earth Day is occurring this April, and while there are plenty of ways to celebrate, perhaps the biggest gathering will occur in Washington D.C. at the National Mall. Designated as an event “to inspire citizens to take action to protect our planet and its people”, this free event also includes some major music acts such as No Doubt, Usher, and My Morning Jacket. Shenandoah Epic Adventure Race, Bentonville, Virginia, April 18-19
Featuring running, biking, and paddling, through challenging terrain, if that doesn’t do it for you in the Shenandoah Epic Adventure Race, it also has enough views to surely take your breath away. That’s because this 100+ mile, 26-hour adventure race has its teams navigating through the George Washington National Forest, along the Shenandoah River, and gazing across Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rumble at 18 Road Trail & Mountain Bike Race, Fruita, Colorado, April 18-19
Whether you are an old pro at the sport or just looking to begin, the Rumble at 18 Road Trail and Mountain Bike Race is just for you. As part of the American Mountain Bike Challenge series, this race and others serves as a welcome into the sport alongside a challenging course for the non-newbies. And whether you lace up the running shoes or downshift on the cross country mountain bike race, there is a good chance you’ll have a great time as you experience the famous 18 Road Trails in Fruita, Colorado.

Baja Kayak Fest, Baja, California, April 18-20
You had me at Baja… For many the name of this beautiful location on the southern tip of California is enough to pack the bags and get going.
