Summary:

The Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro gear box is an excellent option for keeping your important gear organized and protected, both while traveling and at home. But, its rugged latches can be a challenge to get open and closed securely at times.

Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro

Let’s face it, travel and outdoor gear is expensive, which is why keeping it safe, well organized, and well-protected is so important. A good gear box can help you accomplish that and make better use of limited storage space at the same time. That’s exactly what you’ll get from the Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro, a stackable, durable gear box that you’ll find so useful, you’ll probably end up owning several of them.

For use both in your vehicle and at home, the Wolf Pack Pro offers a nondescript design and straightforward functionality. But its performance is excellent, providing a great sense of confidence with its tight seal and impact-resistant materials. In fact, it seals so tightly, that it can be a challenge to get the lid off at times. Fortunately, that is exactly what you want most of the time.

Design (5) ★★★★★

From a useability and efficiency standpoint, the Wolf Pack Pro is on point. The box is incredibly sturdy and durable, providing a shield against heavy impacts and keeping its contents safe at all times. Whether you’re hauling around extremely fragile tech equipment or outdoor gear that isn’t fragile at all, you’ll appreciate what this box brings to the table. Yes, it is a storage crate like countless others on the market, but its four independent latches, thick molded plastic, and relatively lightweight design make it well suited for just about any adventure. And because it is built to be stacked with other Wolf Pack Pros, you’ll find that it comes in handy in your gear shed or closet at home, in the back of your overlanding vehicle, or at base camp.

The box is especially great for storing all of the gear that you need for a particular activity, such as rock climbing or mountain biking. After slapping a label indicating which gear is contained inside you can simply grab the box that you need and go. This will save you time, keep you well organized, and allow you to enjoy your favorite activities more.

Performance (4) ★★★★

The Wolf Pack Pro is both dust and waterproof, keeping its interior completely sealed against potentially harmful elements. That’s a good thing of course and further indicates the level of build quality that Front Runner has put into this product. The seal is so tight, however, that it can sometimes be a challenge to get the lid off.  The company recommends applying a bit of pressure to the top of the box before unlatching and that does help most of the time. But on occasion, I’ve had one or two of the latches become extremely difficult to release, even after the seal has been broken. That can be somewhat frustrating when you’re trying to access the items inside.

It is hard to fault the Wolf Pack Pro for being so well constructed. But it is something that potential buyers should be aware of before purchasing the gear box. Hopefully, over time the hinges will loosen up some and it will get easier to remove the lid.

Size (4) ★★★★

The carrying capacity for the Wolf Pack Pro is good, but there were times when I wished that it was just a bit bigger. The box has been built to work with Front Runner’s other vehicle accessories, including racks, brackets, and gear bags. Because of this, the size of the Wolf Pack is limited somewhat, with the solution for more storage being to add more boxes. But having an option or a larger model would be appreciated, providing more capacity, without the need for buying a second box.

Overall (4) ★★★★

If you’re in the market for excellent storage boxes for use at home or in your vehicle, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option than the Wolf Pack Pro. It is durable, well designed, and easy to carry around. The capacity is good and the box offers a tight seal that keeps out water and dust. If you’re already invested into Front Runner’s accessory system, adding a few of these gear boxes is a no-brainer. But even if you don’t own another product from the company, there is a good chance that you’ll find a lot to like here.

Priced at $54.95, these are on the higher end of what you would expect to pay for a plastic storage box. But, the quality shows through in all of the materials used in its construction. You’ll never fear for the more fragile gear that you’ll be taking with you and you’ll also have a box that can accompany you on many adventures for years to come.
