Summary:

The Kali Astra is an incredible device that will keep your back safe no matter how hard you go down. Just don't hit it with big sticks.

Functionality ★
The Kali Astra back protector is a great investment. Especially since it only cost 200 bucks and your back is a bit more expensive not to mention painful to replace. The Astra is great for the rider who pins it on the trail and they know when they go down, they usually go down hard. This brace would make sense for a downhill or hard core enduro rider to wear but unfortunately, I don’t think it would work well under spandex for all those cross country riders out there.

Design and Aesthetics
This back brace is very well designed, and built to last. That is as long as you use it for its intended purpose. The Astra does an incredible job stabilizing your back and keeping you from hyperextending or twisting your back.

Durability ★
As far as durability goes… we broke it. We weren’t exactly using it as intended though and we later realized that it says that it is only to be used for biking and for nothing else. I could be wrong but I don’t think that smashing it with giant sticks qualifies as mountain biking. I believe that if you used it as it was intended to be used, it would stand up to a beating and would keep on protecting your back no matter what.

Value ★★★★
When I first saw the price of this product, I was surprised, but then I got to thinking about how much a new back would cost and suddenly, 200 bucks didn’t seem like such a bad price.
