Review: MindShift rotation180 Panorama Pack

Designed with the action sports photographer in mind, the rotation180 Panorama comes with all the bells and whistles: a camera storage area with Velcro inserts, a hydration pocket, a designated spot for your tripod, room for extra gear and snacks, and an easy-to-access top pocket. “It was just a little small”, says snowboard photographer Mike Helfrich, “The camera compartment could be bigger while making the upper storage smaller. I like all the space up top, but I would rather be able to bring a bigger lens.”

This pack’s design is unbelievably clever. Unlike many other packs, which have one big, deep compartment, the Panorama is separated into distinct, smaller sections. The bottom compartment is attached to a rotating belt pack: simply unclip the magnetic attachment, and the camera compartment swivels easily around your waist. That means you can access your gear without taking off your pack. “The easy access part is pretty awesome,” says Helfrich. “It’s ready for a quick shot, and it’s perfect for riding on-the-go with friends that can’t wait to shred more.” Quick and easy is the name of the game—and at only 2.9 pounds, it won’t slow you down.

The Panorama falls in the same price range as many other camera packs, but the extra features put it a leg above the rest. There are extra add-ons, like a photo insert that allows you to carry more photo gear and a rain cover, that are sold separately for those who want to take it to the next level.
