Review: PACK Gear Backpack Organizer

I happen to travel a lot. In fact I will be out of the state traveling for the next 3 weeks. I just got back from a trip to Colorado and brought this little guy with me, here are my thoughts.  The Pack gear backpack organizer (PACK) showed up in a tiny little package, in fact I thought it was a shirt or something. Then I unpacked it and out comes this intricately designed jumble of buckles and cloth. At first I thought to myself, what have I gotten myself into?? But once I finally began packing my clothing into it, I was blown away by the functionality.

Functionality ★★★★★

I was able to fit: 2 pairs of jeans, sweat pants, 2 base layers of long underwear both tops and bottoms, 5 t-shirts, my ski jacket, all of my socks and underwear, and my headwear and gloves. Not only did all of this fit in the PACK, it was held together snugly and compact. I even managed to fit all of that into my little cotopaxi backpack. It slipped right in like a glove, with a little space to spare. Unpacking was a cinch, I simply whipped it out, hung it in the closet and boom, I had a mini closet organizer. The nice thing about this organizer compared to some of those compression packs is that it has its own little “drawers”. I just unclipped each section depending on what I needed and once that little area was empty it maintained its form. So it didn’t fall apart and I could pull items out from within the middle of the pack, which I found to be amazing.

Design and Aesthetic ★★★★

At first glance, this guy is not very pretty. It looks incredibly confusing, has like 15 clips all over the place. To be fair it is like that ugly duckling fairy tale, once it was all grown up it became a beautiful swan. Once you fill the PACK up (the way it should be used) it looks great and all of those clips that were at one time confusing, actually create the little “drawers” that keep all of your items tightly held in place. It is truly a great design.

Durability ★★★★

I actually tried my best to rip this thing or do something to break it and I failed. Apart from using scissors (not a good idea) I personally think this thing is pretty durable. The clips are all pretty well made and don’t look like they will fall apart on me anytime soon.

Value ★★★★

At 45$ I think this is an excellent value. I have used the little packing cubes in the past and this is much more efficient for the cost.  In order to pack the same amount of stuff in those cubes it would probably cost me about double. Also this has more features and is so much quicker to unpack and easier to organize. Do yourself a favor and pick this baby up before your next adventure.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received PACK Gear backpack organizer for free from PACK as coordinated by Outdoor PR  in consideration for review publication.
