Review: Dual Eyewear AV1 Bifocal Sunglasses

av1a_2Functionality ★★★
As far as sunglasses, the AV1 does what they’re designed to do, they shade your eyes from the sun. Although I think that the bifocal lenses should be an option and not part of every pair of their glasses. Their name wouldn’t make much sense if that were the case though. If you don’t wear prescription glasses and don’t need them, the bifocal part is completely useless and rather annoying. If you always need to wear prescription glasses, chances are you’re better off without glasses than using the bifocal part. But there is the random person whose eyeballs benefit from them, for example someone who only needs reading glasses.

Design and Aesthetics ★★★
The AV1 looks great from a distance, but once you get up close, you realize that the lenses are made of nylon and they feel very cheap. If you’re looking for a pair of bifocal sunglasses, then these are probably about as stylish as they come. They’re not the most comfortable glasses either.

Durability ★★★
This pair of Dual Eyewear sunglasses is made out of very thin stainless steel but it feels very flimsy. The pair I tested were actually bent when I pulled them out of the box.

Value ★★
At the end of the day, you’re paying 100 bucks for a pair of unpolarized sunglasses that most people would agree are annoying to look through. They’re definitely not for me, but maybe you’re into that kind of stuff.
