Review: tasc Performance’s Bamboo Boxer Briefs
Think about it: underwear is the ultimate base layer, so surely it deserves as much attention as your mid layers and top layers. If you’re using the same pair of underwear for sports that you use for sleeping or laying around the house, it might be time to rethink your underwear choices.
You won’t know what your missing out on until you try tasc Performance’s boxer briefs: using bamboo fabric, they’ve crafted a pair of underwear that are super soft and comfortable while simultaneously being able to keep up with an active lifestyle. Hiking, skiing, running, climbing — this base layer can withstand it all.
Functionality ★★★★★
Crafted with tasc Performance’s signature Mosotech(TM) fabric, these boxer briefs are light, breathable, moisture wicking (super important given that they’re essentially your second skin), and smell-proof. They fit a little tight, but the four-way stretch design allows them to really move with you — and best of all, they’ll stay put: no chafing, bunching, or awkward rubbing around. A few extra functionality perks: they couldn’t be easier to care for, and they offer UPF 50+ sun protection.
Design and Aesthetics ★★★★
The tasc Performance boxer briefs are pretty no-nonsense when it comes to looks. They come in your standard black, white, and grey, and the waistband has a neon pop to give it a little life. It also comes in a full neon yellow/green color, for the truly adventurous. You might not see as many color and fit options as some other brands, but that’s probably not a huge deal for most — it’s not like many people will be seeing them.
Durability ★★★★★
Fans of tasc Performance’s boxer briefs say it’s the only underwear they bother wearing anymore (luckily, you can pick up a five pack and save $24). They can stand up to a lot more than your usual pair of underwear, and they’ll survive wash after wash after wash. Best of all, no matter how many times you wear them (cleaning between uses, of course), they won’t get smelly. Not even after a hockey game.
Value ★★★★★
At first glance, $24 might seem a little steep for a pair of underwear. But these are really more comparable to technical long underwear than your usual plain boxers. Compared to other undergarments geared towards active lifestyles, tasc Performance’s boxer briefs are at the low end of the scale. Considering how long they last, it’s a solid investment.
