Shokz :: Open Run Headphones

Shokz sent me their OpenRun Bone Conduction headphones and I was stoked. I love new and interesting tech and I’m always on the hunt for comfortable headphones. I’m not gonna to lie, these bone conduction headphones are pretty flippin’ cool!

Last weekend, I had the perfect chance to put the OpenRun headphones through their paces. I took them on a trail run through the beautiful, rugged terrain of Northwest Arkansas. From navigating steep inclines to soaking in the gorgeous scenery, these headphones were my trusty companion the whole way. And let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint blasting great audio and the “dulcet tones” of HEAVY METAL directly into my bones!

Design/Aesthetics (5) ★★★★★

First off, the OpenRun headphones look pretty slick. With their open-ear design, they have a cool, modern vibe that sets them apart from your typical earbuds. They come in two sizes, including a Mini version with a 0.83-inch shorter band, ensuring a snug fit no matter your head size. They’re as stylish as they are functional, which is always a bonus.

Functionality (5) ★★★★★

These headphones aren’t just about looks—they’re packed with awesome tech. Shokz used 8th generation bone conduction, Bluetooth 5.1, and PremiumPitch™ 2.0+ to deliver top-notch sound quality. The audio is clear, the volume is strong, and the bass is rich. Plus, the open-ear design lets you stay aware of your surroundings (I.E. Mountain Lions and Bears), which is a must when you’re out on the trails. And with an IP67 waterproof rating, they can handle sweat and rain like champs (just don’t take them swimming).

Durability (5) ★★★★★

I’m tough on my gear, and the OpenRun headphones stood up to the challenge. They’re lightweight but tough, handling everything from sweat to rain without missing a beat. They stayed put during my entire run, no matter how much I bounced around, making them perfect for all-day listening.

Battery Life (4) ★★★★

The battery life on these bad boys is pretty impressive, too. You get 8 hours of playtime, which is more than enough for a full day of adventures. The quick charge feature is a lifesaver—just 10 minutes of charging gives you up to 1.5 hours of listening time. Depending on what you’re listening to and your environment, the battery life can vary, but overall, it’s solid.

Value (4) ★★★★

At $129.95, the OpenRun headphones are a bit of an investment, but they’re totally worth it if you’re serious about audio and being aware of your surroundings. The mix of innovative bone conduction tech, durability, and stellar sound quality makes them a great value. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth with these.

The Shokz OpenRun are pretty awesome! They’ve got the looks, performance, and toughness to become your new favorite outdoor companion. Whether you’re jamming to music or catching up on your favorite podcasts, these headphones can literally pump the audio into your bones.
