Winter Wardrobe Must-Haves from Eddie Bauer’s Women’s Line
When it comes to planning your winter wardrobe, no sweat—Eddie Bauer has got you covered.
When I say no sweat, I mean in quite literally. The latest from Eddie Bauer’s women’s line has moisture wicking properties that make the gear perfect for staying dry (and thus warm) while you’re taking part in your favorite winter outdoor activities.
I put three essential pieces from the winter collection to the test: a pair of base layer leggings, an insulated mid layer, and a lightweight outer shell that, combined, make up part of the ultimate winter outdoor wardrobe. Here’s how they stood up to snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter trail running.
The Women’s Movement Leggings ($70)
Thick and sturdy, the Movement leggings don’t feel like a flimsy base layer. Rather, the polyester/spandex blend makes them feel durable and allows them to fit snugly without constricting your movement during your winter athletic pursuits.
They’re designed with every detail in mind: a mid-waist fit so they don’t ride low while you’re strapping into snowboard bindings; a hidden waistband pocket so you can stash your keys on a winter run; machine washable fabric so that they’re easy to maintain. They’re stylish enough for your yoga studio—especially if you opt for a fun patterned print or the trendy ombré style.

Ladies, you may never need another mid layer again. This Primaloft® insulated jacket has become a staple in my wardrobe, whether worn as a hoodie around my home, as my jacket on a cross country ski, or underneath my snowboard jacket on the mountain.
The nylon front panel is insulated to keep you warm to the core, while the polyester/spandex blend back and sleeves allow plenty of range for movement. Pocket placement is fantastic (two lower down, one on the bicep sleeve) and the hood zips away for optional use. It’s waterproof and breathable, and offers a generously-sized hood – perfect for those who live in places where the weather can change on a dime, like the Pacific Northwest. This all-purpose jacket protects from the elements without adding excess heat or bulk, making it a good fit for ski touring or particular intense snowshoe treks.
Speaking of fit, the Sandstone is neither too baggy nor too fitted – it’s a flattering shape that allows you to add a few layers beneath without making you look (and feel) like a stuffed sausage.
