Why This is the Best Time to Purchase New Gear

As the sun sets a little earlier, the night air sports a crisp fresh feel and the leaves show just a hint of change, a single thought enters my mind, “Just think what great deals I can get on gear right now.”

Ski Sales
This is the time of year the stores and manufacturers break out their new-year models. If you just have to be the first on your block to get that new Fatty, Rockered set of skis or you’re looking for the newest technical advances in ski poles, this season is for you. The new lines on everything to do with skiing are hitting the stores right now. If there is something wrong with you and you don’t feel the need for the newest thing, this is also the time for stores to try to dump the past year’s gear to make room for the new lines. Prices are slashed big time at sales with names like Sniagrab (bargains spelled backwards) and Ski-Rex; both in Colorado or the Potter Brothers sales back in New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

Camping Gear
Instead of trying to patch that tear in your tent, you may want to help your local sporting goods store by taking a new one off their hands. It’s time for them to stock gear for winter sports so everything to do with camping is at a discount. They would just as soon sell it cheap than move it to the back so now’s the time to shop for camping gear. Supplies may be limited but if there is anything camping related you need, buy it now at a reduced price and you’re set for next year. The Clymb is an excellent source for blow-out sales this time of year.

Golf Gear
The seasons may never end down south but in the northern states the end of the golf season is fast approaching. Some stores somehow survive on only golf products year round, but most of them need the floor space for skis, boots and those fancy new ski poles. The end of summer and beginning of fall is the best time for bargains on clubs, balls and those tacky shirts we all love so much.

Clothing
Just like other clothing stores, your local sporting goods shop is gearing up with warm clothes, jackets and gloves. If you can find any swim trunks this time of year good luck, and scoop them up. Same with hiking shorts, short sleeved shirts and those super thin, sweat-wicking fishing shirts that most people have no idea what all the pockets are for.

Cars
Yes, cars are gear so they deserve a mention as well. They really have to move these products fast. Once the new models arrive the last year’s cars are just in the way at a new-car lot. Besides, you may want a shiny new car to carry all that gear you just bought.
